To Spin or Not to Spin Is That the Question

There is a lot written in many of the more popular forums about spinning articles. The debate at times becomes heated. What is lacking is a definition. What is meant by spinning an article?

Definitions

Traditionally, spinning has been and is associated with articles that are gibberish. I have read material on the web that can only have been written by a robot, or perhaps by a third grade foreigner attempting to learn to read and write English. The results are much less than acceptable. In fact, they are abominable.

If that is spinning, then it should surely be banned from the web. It is quite obvious that no human ever looked at the article before it was published on the web.

I can only conclude that the article was composed by one of those automated non-human spinning services. Although, I have never used spinning services and I can only speak from my observation. And, my observation is not quantified.

Spinning Articles for Marketers

This article on spinning articles refutes the idea that spinning and rewriting articles is the same thing. Just what is article spinning? Spinning articles, as you probably know, is the substitution of words, phrases, sentences, or paragraphs within an article for the sole purpose of creating multiple copies of the same article.

Automated Software

The automated software used to accomplish spinning most often fails to deliver readable content. Why? Most spinners use algorithms that replace words with synonyms.

The idea to be able to automate the production of multiple articles from a single article is exciting. Can you imagine being able to increase your productivity by ten to twenty times?

Read this sentence: The road sign said stop. Now read this: The road emblem said stop. Sign and emblem are synonyms. In an article about automobiles, which sentence is awkward? I think you can see the problem.

Imagine an entire article written with automated synonym substitutions. Eventually a reader would get lost and not understand the meaning of the article. Worse he would leave in disgust.

Rewriting Your Article

Rewriting an article is restating the meaning of an article using different words. Rewriting requires continuity of content and we all know that content is king.

I am sure you will agree that the more articles you can have published the more sales you will generate. It makes sense.
Manually rewriting an article into ten to twenty different articles is time consuming and probably impractical. It can be much less painful.

You can rewrite two or three versions of that article in less than an hour.

Use the original article as a template. Start with the first paragraph, write a new version of that paragraph, and continue to the end of the article. You will be surprised how quickly you can create a new reworded article. Try it.

How long does it take you to write an article not counting the research? Is it ten minutes or half an hour? It takes me up to an hour to create the finished product. That includes editing and formatting.

It takes about another hour to create two new versions of the same article. It takes me two hours to create three unique readable quality articles. I saved an hour.

Leading Edge Technology

What if you could take those three versions and in minutes create 20 or more unique, coherent, quality articles? There is a way.

New leading edge technology can do just that. The antiquated spinners of the past did not allow control of the input and the output of the articles. That is no longer the case. New technology gives you complete control of what goes in and what comes out.

There is no magic.

10 Tips For Rewriting Your Articles

There’s is nothing more frustrating than reading an article you found interesting and then following the link where you expect to find more interesting material only to find the same article when you get to the new site.
It happens for one of two reasons. One, the author is lazy and doesn’t really care. Or, two, the author doesn’t know any better.
It first happened to me on my own site. I found an old article of mine on the internet and followed the link to test it. Lo and behold, I was directed to the same article on my own website! Not good! Being a newbie, it never crossed my mind that I was directing readers to the same article.
I am now a firm believer in rewriting your articles. Some call it “spinning”. I don’t. There is a difference. Spinning articles implies an automated regurgitation of an original article, either yours are someone else’s.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when rewriting articles.

  1. Do your rewriting right after you write the original. It is fresh in your memory and easier to come up with alternatives.
  2. Rewrite paragraph by paragraph.
  3. Use synonyms or rearrange the sentences.
  4. Do not limit your changes to just words, phrases, or sentences. Change a paragraph at a time.
  5. For best results, change all the paragraphs. Write at least two versions for each paragraph.
  6. With two or more versions and a quality rewriting tool, you can easily generate 10-20 new unique articles.
  7. Do not use article “spinning software” that randomly replaces words with synonyms or that uses a thesaurus. It is a waste of your time and money and it defeats your purpose. Most often it will result in gibberish.
  8. If you do choose to use “spinning software”, please make sure that it allows you complete control of the input and the output.
  9. Rewriting your articles and submitting them to different directories increase your search engine optimization.
  10. Always check your work with a good comparison tool and check for uniqueness, 75% or better is ideal.

In addition to improving your SEO, rewriting decreases your website bounce rate. Readers are less likely to leave your site if they are reading something different.
I only know of only one software tool that will give you complete control of the output and the input of your rewrite.
Read and watch the video onthis page and decide for yourself. I think you would agree that rewriting your articles for multiple submissions makes sense.

Article Spinning – A Reason To Spin Your Articles

Article spinning has always struck me as a form of cheating. Recently, I changed my mind. I am relatively new to internet marketing. I chose article marketing as my method of marketing because I like to write. That sounds logical enough.

I’m sure you have heard and know that content is king. That being true it must follow that volume is its kingdom. Content without volume is like a king without subjects. Without a kingdom, there are no revenues and the king goes broke.  The kingdom (volume) provides subjects (traffic, readers) which in turn provide revenue.

How do you increase your volume? Here are four answers:

1) Write more;

2) Hire writers to write for you;

3) Buy Private Label Right (PLR) articles and rewrite them or attempt to publish them as is;

4) Spin your original articles.

I have dismissed the first one because I am slow.  Doing nothing else but writing I can only create, write, edit, and format at most three articles a day. I cannot compete with those that write 10 to 20 or more articles a day.

The second way, hiring writers, is too costly for me now and I fear that I would be overly critical and end up rewriting them any way.

The third method, buying PLR articles, I reject for the same reasons as the second. I would end up rewriting the article. Besides, what I have seen of PLRs, the best they can do is give you ideas for articles.

We are left with spinning your article.

Surfing the forums you hear horror stories about automated programs spinning articles that are un-intelligible garbage.

Authors that spin their articles always had me wondering. Why not just write another article?

Many article directories will accept previously published articles. Some do not. Why not submit the same article to directories that will accept them instead of rewriting or spinning? Submitting previously published articles is no different from writing a syndicated column for newspapers. The same article appears in many different newspapers. Why not do the same with an article marketers article?

There is a difference. One day I was re-reading one of my articles that I came across while surfing the internet. I clicked on the link at the bottom just to make sure the link was working properly. The link worked all right, but it went to one of my blogs. Can you guess what the first post on that page was?

Yep, I had just read the same article. I found that to be annoying and, well, poor taste. I think a reader would quickly bounce off the page and go elsewhere.

I decided to re-write the article, but I remembered that the same article was appearing in many other directories. I would have to write many different versions of that same article to give the reader some uniqueness and still convey the original message.

It was then that I became a convert to article spinning. There are other reasons for spinning articles , but that one was what changed my mind.

A word of caution, most article spinning software is not worth the price, free or otherwise. Be very careful, only select a spinner that allows you full control of the output and then check each spun article for uniqueness.

If you want to increase the volume of your output and maintain uniqueness, spin your articles. You will see an increase in your traffic and ultimately an increase in your sales.
